How Much Coffee Do You Need?

As a growing community of coffee-drinking travelers, let’s agree that a “cup” ALWAYS means 8 fluid ounces. Now we have a basis to begin to understand daily/weekly/monthly personal consumption rates. Are you a one-cup a day person? Two? Four? Eight?  If that number is north of 40 then we need to talk…please don’t do that because it won’t end well and we’ve already established that we care about you.

One of the easiest tools to use when making purchases is to convert those cups per day to an actual weight of coffee beans per month…always assuming that in general it’s 7 days/week that you consume coffee. So here we go:

  • 1 cup per day = 1# of beans per month

  • 2 cups per day = 2# of beans per month

  • 3 cups per day = 3# of beans per month

  • 4 cups per day = 4# of beans per month

  • 5 cups per day = 5# of beans per month….let’s stop here because that’s 40 ounces of coffee per day. If brewed properly, not many folks will tolerate more than that.

So, let’s make sure you set up a monthly subscription that best matches your consumption. Do a bit of factoring if you only drink coffee 5 or 6 days per week. Also, don’t forget to factor in that visit by the cousins when they come to visit next month. Try to dial it in on a monthly basis so that we can keep only the freshest beans on your shelf…we wouldn’t want you to keep the coffee for two months. It would be fine but not to the highest flavor standards.
